Scope of Replicabilty

Delhi alone has approximately 50% of the population residing in resettlement colonies or inadequate dwelling areas with almost no access to basic services for survival. The count at the global level is unimaginable with more than half of the world, over 3 billion people living on less than $ 2.50 / day. As the world continues to strive towards becoming ‘developed entities’ there is an inherent deterioration in the living opportunities of those who are left behind in the race for ‘everything’.

Pagdandi School acknowledges the powerful combination of
people's potential and conviction to enable a process of just development. We appreciate the available knowledge and wisdom on issues of development & individual rights and seek to bring together the two domains of knowledge and volunteerism in the form of a comprehensive program for community intervention and activism.

The non-text book voluntary approach of the program is a great departure from the traditional curriculum followed in most of the academic institutions world over. The program will have an encouraging effect on reinforcing the fragile state of development, facilitate the process of motivating individual citizens to understand the complex matrix of issues relating to development and promote a culture volunteerism and civic responsibility.

The concerns identified by Pagdandi are under no circumstances limited to a region, country, race or ethnicity. With the growing divide amongst the have’s and the have not’s and more and more people migrating to urban areas with no support whatsoever, the challenges of poverty and impoverishment are growing with time. It is all encompassing and affects one and all. Hence, educating and evolving action groups with an agenda towards a more sustainable and just development process, holds relevance under all contexts

Pagdandi School is designed in such a way that it can be
adapted to any region or target group. The themes can be customized and the sessions can be designed to suit the socio-economic-politico-environmental specificities of the local communities. This certainly helps in greater comprehension and more tangible outputs from the volunteer facilitators and community learners themselves.
